Nail trimming is highly important to us. Why?
1) Overgrown nails can split, bleed or break easily.
2) When nails are too long, we have difficulty walking and will eventually become painful or could grow into the pad of our paws which can cause soreness and/or serious infections.
3) It could be a factor in the development of arthritis
4) It really shows when we are well taken care of by our owners/parents.
Tip: We normally need to have our nails trimmer every 4-6 weeks. If your pack member is on hard surfaces like concrete, it may take a little longer.

Characteristics of a Virgo Cat
Astrostar.com’s version: “The Virgo cat is finicky and extra clean and expects everything in the home to be the same way. This cat will not tolerate a dirty litter box and may just report you to the humane society if you don’t keep him or her in an acceptable environment. Extremely loving, the Virgo Kitty will know when you are ill and might even try to snuggle up to the part of you that is hurting. Keep a special space for this kitty as Virgo likes to know that there is always a safe place to hide away when things get to out of control.”
MY VERSION: He/She has paper towels and multi-purpose cleaner handy at all times and takes 4 showers a day. If you move something from its original location, you will get yelled at. If you don’t clean his bathroom he will throw a big tantrum and you will be subject to a law suit if you don’t take a good care of him. If you are sick, she/he will play the grandma role providing chicken soup and a chest rub with Vicks VapoRub. He will wear a “Tender Loving Care” tee-shirts and pajamas to remind you he is a lover. Ensure you have a giant sock or a designated drawer so he can safely hide when he/she has a panic attack. It is clear to me that Garfield is not a Virgo!

Humans talk, chat, text and email. We bark and howl! It is one of our forms of communication. We often do so to acknowledge the presence of other dogs far away or let them know our coordinates. It is a long-range type of communication. Among wild dogs, it is used to call the pack for the hunt as well. Humans watch TV and eat strawberry ice cream when you guys are bored and lonely? We howl ‘cause we miss the family and we do not have any other fur to pull out. At times we hear sirens or loud noises and we howl. That is an instinctive response to what we interpret as another dog howling.
So, if you lose your cell phone, just HOWL AT ME!!!

You see, every inexplicable behavior of ours has a reason to be. As the sub-specie of wolves we are – Canis Lupus familiaris, it is genetically settled in us to act in a certain way. When our ancestors or wolves are in the hunt, they roll into feces or carcasses of dead animals to disguise their scent so they are not so easily detected by the potential prey. That is why! We are so smart! Ha!
I know it is a pain in the rear-end to bathe us when we do so, but please forgive us! It is all the genes’ fault! How to prevent it? Pay close attention to the body language when you walk your loved doggie. The key is to correct the behavior before it even happens.
Oh, an extra tip! Why do we scratch the ground with our back legs after we do our business? Guess! Try harder!!! Twist my arm, I mean leg!
This is very natural for us. We normally do so in order not to be found by the other predators. We “mask” our scent as a survival technique.

It is sure a challenge to put aside the traditional Western medicine and exploring the avenues of alternative medicine. Ok, let’s start from the beginning. Homeopathy comes from the Greek word similar or alike. It has been used and administered since the 18th century in Germany by Samuel Hahnemann. It strives to activate the body self-healing responses by focusing not the symptoms but the core of the health issue. The condition will be cured by utilizing an extremely small dose of precisely the malady in question. For instance, if you have poison ivy, the homeopathy remedy used will be a substance similar to it, in very tiny amount which is harmless to the body, so our own organism can develop the antibodies needed to activate the self-healing process. It has no side effects and it is completely safe. There are thousands of remedies available to cure a variety of illnesses, from viruses and bacterial infections, cough and flu, to more serious dysfunctions and chronic conditions. Nowadays, homeopathy is used on humans as well as animals. So try it on your lovely pet!

Per Cesar Millan’s formula he says that walking us is extremely important. He explains that exercise, discipline and affection are the fundamental keys for a healthy and fulfilled dog. He also emphasizes that exercising is number one on the list. Letting us out in the backyard (no matter how big it is), a quick potty break or playing fetch is not enough and it is certainly not a substitute. We need to WALK, every day, twice a day for a minimum of 30 minutes each.
Our ancestors used to walk for hours every day. The entire pack walked, migrated for food and that is deeply rooted in our brain and genes. When my mom walks me, we bond, she is my pack leader and I follow her gladly. We go and don’t stop for a while until it is my play time and do my “business”. I love my mom!
We love the love and being home with you, but please remember how much WE love and need being dogs by walking. And remember, if you cannot, just call my dear Mom and she will send her crew right away to walk your doggie! Ha!

“ok mom could not find a pic of poop in her database so you get the picture here”…..
It is more common than you think so relax, inhale, exhale, and meditate!
We pretty much eat poop due to a deficiency in our diet. Sometimes we get stressed solving Einstein’s complicated formulas. Maybe she is hungry because it is football season and you are glued to the TV. Remember the movie “Alien”? Perhaps he has an alien in the tummy. Best case scenario would be parasites and/or worms and you don’t know it. At times it is because we were badly reprimanded when we could not hold it, so we eat it before you find it. The following article summarizes other reasons why we eat poop
How to stop it? Well, bad news is that this is a hard habit to break once it starts. Good news is that everything is possible. You can start by modifying our diet by changing the food type, giving us mineral and vitamin supplements. You can also feed us more often (twice in lieu of once a day) to see if that works.
How to prevent it? Use a short or non-expandable leash so you, dear owner, are in control of what that mischievous doggie of yours is doing. Use the traditional “No” or any other command of your preference and take him away from the stinky zone so he/she understands it is an unwanted behavior. Don’t punish us when we poop where we should not have, simply correct us over and over until we learn.
Yours,
Olivia
